February 2021 Real Estate Newsletter.
Looking Forward to the rest of 2021:
January started off with a bullet. Seasonally speaking, one of the slowest months of the year. Typically we don’t start to see a lot of action until February or March. Again, with the low mortgage rates (2.7%-3.0%) and pent up demand the market continues its upward climb.
In addition to the super low interest rates the housing inventory is incredibly low as well. As of the writing of this newsletter (2-2-2021) there were only 328 homes for sale in the GAVAR MLS (Greater Antelope Valley Association of Realtors Multiple Listing Service). What’s even more staggering is the fact that in a 24hr period (this week) there were 24 new listings (homes going on the market for sale) and there were 35 pending (homes with accepted offers and in escrow). So it’s not like there isn’t anything new coming to the market…. It’s just that the homes are being gobbled up even faster … continuing the shortage!
And again, pool homes are in high demand…even in the middle of winter.
As many of you know, I grew up in the AV and I spent a lot of time on my grandparents Almond Farm in Quartz Hill. A great place for a kid with a lot of energy. Driving tractors, catching squirrels, hiding in the grain tanks (with the black widows) and hitting baseballs into the almond orchard. I also learned how to prepare almonds in a variety of ways. We would… Roast them, Smoke them, Salt and Butter them, put Onion and Garlic on them and we would put Cinnamon and Sugar on them. Yes, there are a lot of ways to enjoy almonds
I’ve been experimenting lately and have a come up with a … roasted-salted-garlic version and a roasted-salted-crushed red pepper flakes version… (not too spicy, just right).
